Grand Jury Proceedings
We have defended companies, corporate officers, and employees in federal grand jury proceedings across the country. Responding to a grand jury investigation often presents difficult liability and privilege issues, and our experience as prosecutors gives us the tools to navigate the process. We work with prosecutors to arrange immunity for clients asked to sit before the grand jury, negotiate proffers when they are in our client’s best interest, and pursue non-prosecution agreements or otherwise aim to persuade prosecutors not to bring charges. When responding to a grand jury subpoena requires the production of documents, the we negotiate production terms designed to minimize our client’s expense while analyzing the information with an eye toward developing a defense and understanding the case the prosecution is attempting to build. When we represent corporate officers and employees, we know that working closely with corporate counsel is important to understanding the broader investigation and the impact it may have on our individual client.
