Environmental and Other Regulatory Matters
Federal and state government agencies regularly make demands on, and seek information from, corporations and individuals in areas such as the environment, consumer protection, and banking. We have helped clients in response to civil and criminal matters under the jurisdiction of the United States and California Environmental Protection Agencies, the California State Attorney General’s Office, the Securities and Exchange Commission and state securities regulators, the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), which now supervises a wide swath of financial and other companies engaged with consumers.
Our work has included representing companies and individuals in response to inquiries, subpoenas, or other requests from governmental agencies; drafting corporate policies and contracts with consumers; and submitting white papers to agencies. Our trial experience here is a plus: we know the way a case can play out in court and that informs our advice to clients on how to avoid litigation.
